Physical Features along the Mekong River


The region in southwestern Vietnam where the Mekong River approaches and empties into the sea through a network of distributaries is called the Mekong Delta.This region encompasses a large portion of southeastern Vietnam.

The Khone Falls is a waterfall on the Mekong River in Laos in the Champasak Province near its border with Cambodia. They are the main reason that the Mekong is not navigable into China.

When the broad slow-flowing river reached the town of Kratie, as just to the north, the village of Kompi marks the start of the Sambor rapids which is another physical features along the river.
